Our Philosophy

More Than a Platform,
It's a Digital Sangha

"Connecting Vipassana meditators worldwide to serve, share, and support each other on the path of Dhamma."

Journey to Peace

The Story Behind Dhamma Mitra

It started with a realization during a journey. In January 2026, after completing a course at Dhamma Bodhi (Bodh Gaya), our founder realized the practical difficulties a Sadhak faces when traveling to a new city.

Finding a safe place to stay, pure vegetarian food, proper transport, and most importantly—Trust—was a challenge. Being in a strange city without knowing anyone can be difficult for a meditator trying to maintain Sila and Equanimity.

A thought emerged: "There are thousands of Vipassana meditators (Vipassis) around the world. What if we could connect them? What if a local Sadhak could guide a visiting Sadhak like a family member?"

Thus, Dhamma Mitra was born—not as a business, but as a medium of Maitri (Friendship) and Karuna (Compassion).

Why Trust This Platform?

Unlike other social platforms, our community is bound by a common thread:
The practice of Sila (Morality).

Every verified member confirms adherence to these precepts.

Our Pledge: Nishkama Karma

Dhamma Mitra is created with the sole intention of helping the Sangha. We do not charge any fee for registration or connection. Any help provided by sadhaks (food, stay, ride) is voluntary and based on their own volition (Dana).

Dhamma Mitra: An Introduction

"Dhamma Mitra" is not just a digital platform, but a vision of a global family for Vipassana meditators. When a meditator walks on the path of "Dhamma", they often feel a sense of loneliness, especially when they are away from their center or group. The purpose of Dhamma Mitra is to bridge this gap and thread meditators into a single unifying bond.

This platform is inspired by the spirit of Revered Guruji Shri S.N. Goenka Ji, in which he often said, "May all beings be happy, may all beings be peaceful". Our endeavor is to use technology to create an "Ecosystem" where every meditator feels safe and empowered.

Whether you are traveling to a new city, or want to do Group Sitting with other meditators in your own city, Dhamma Mitra acts as a bridge for you. Here every person joining is a "Mitra" (Friend)—a friend who is your fellow traveler on the path of Sila, Samadhi, and Panna.

What is Dhamma Mitra?

It is a community-based web application designed specifically for Vipassana meditators (Old Students). It is not strictly a general social media like Facebook or LinkedIn. The only basis for joining here is—"Vipassana".

Here you can find meditators in your area, contact them, and if needed, ask for or offer help (Seva). It is based entirely on the spirit of selfless service.

Why is it needed?

It has often been observed that when meditators go to a new city, they face difficulties in finding Sattvic food, safe accommodation, or correct information to reach the center.

Many times meditators remain unaware of Group Sittings happening near their homes. "Dhamma Mitra" was born to solve these practical problems and organize the Power of Sangha.

Our Key Objectives

1. Global Connection: Our goal is to bring meditators spread across every corner of the world onto one platform. Whether you are in a village in India or a metropolis abroad, you should never feel like you are alone.

2. Opportunity for Seva: We want old students to get new opportunities for service. Feeding a new meditator in your home or dropping them off at the center is also a great "Dhamma Seva". This strengthens the Paramis of meditators.

3. Continuity in Practice: When meditators stay in touch with each other, they inspire each other to practice. This maintains continuity in daily practice.

4. Safe Environment: Since only verified meditators join this platform, the level of safety here is very high. Especially for female meditators, it is like a safe haven.

How does it work?

Simple process, big impact.

1

Register

Meditators can fill in their details by clicking on "Join As Dhamma Mitra". This will ask for your basic information and details of courses done by you (like when and where the last course was done).

2

Verification

To maintain security, we ensure that only genuine Vipassana meditators become part of this platform (this will be further strengthened in the future).

3

Connect

After logging in, you can see other Mitras in your city, send them messages, and put in requests for "Seva" or "Help".

Founder's Message

From the desk of the Founder

Namo Buddhaya, Be Happy!

My dear fellow meditators,

In this sacred journey of Vipassana, we have all experienced how Dhamma has given a new direction and peace to our lives. When we come out of a 10-day course, an unbroken stream of service and friendship flows within us. But in the hustle and bustle of daily life, we often find ourselves alone. This very thought laid the foundation of "Dhamma Mitra".

As an old student, I felt that this vast family (Sangha) of ours spread across the world needs a platform where there is only trust, service, and selflessness. 'Dhamma Mitra' is not just a website, but it is a digital bridge of 'Maitri' (Friendship) between us meditators.

Our objective is clear:
Seva (Service): To help each other selflessly.
Trust: A safe environment where meditators can trust their Dhamma brothers and sisters for stay and guidance during their journey.
Unity: To give practical shape to Guruji's message of "Sabbe Satta Sukhi Hontu".

This platform is completely free (100% Free) and will always remain so. We have no commercial objective here; our only objective is to serve 'Dhamma' and strengthen the Sangha.

I request you all to join this platform, register yourselves, and serve in turning this small effort into a big movement. Remember, every small step of ours can make the Dhamma journey of another meditator easier.

Maintaining the dignity and decorum of Vipassana, let us all come together and become each other's 'Dhamma Mitra'.
